Visual Arts

Since many of VBB events are directly in response to community needs, our events are curated and organized by groups of community artists, activists and educators. This direct connection to the community ensures that we are addressing issues that reach the core of community member concerns. Much along the same lines, VBB’s new visual arts series, Living Room Art, presents art openings in individuals’ homes in different parts of the city outside the standard gallery and museum structure; thereby making art more accessible to different audiences. Through Living Room Art exhibits in neighborhoods such as the East End, Third Ward and Montrose, people from a variety of backgrounds can meet and mingle to share experiences in a society that is divided along race and class lines.

All of VBB’s arts productions are cosponsored by KPFT Pacifica Radio 90.1 FM.
