Position: Contract, 10-18 hours/week from January 2016 until August 2016

Voices Breaking Boundaries is looking for a dynamic candidate to be an integral part of our team's efforts to tackle social justice through art. The ideal candidate is passionate about her/his work, has a strong work ethic and the capacity to meet and advance VBB's priorities. The candidate has excellent organizational and communication skills and has the ability to work with individuals from a broad array of class, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other backgrounds. A self-starter, the candidate possesses an effective balance of creativity and organizational skills.

Overall responsibilities: The Administrative & Communications Manager, who will report directly to the Founding Director, will manage two areas: (1) organizational management and collaboration with the Founding Director, VBB Team and Board to support and implement the organization's mission and strategic plan; and (2) promotion of the VBB message via social and other media/communication channels.

Primary responsibilities include

- Collaborate with UH Archival staff to complete VBB's archive in the Shuart Women's Archive
- Attend board meetings and retreats to take and archive notes
- Field general emails and phone calls
- Manage and update donor, volunteer and e-mail databases and correspondence
- Manage and compile survey data; generate audience/demographic reports for grants
- Serve as point person for community arts workshops
- Assist with logistics and volunteers for VBB productions (4x in spring 2016)

- Organize and maintain VBB's Flickr and Vimeo sites
- Manage the printing of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures and posters
- Create and launch bi-weekly e-blasts in agreement with VBB's Marketing Consultant and Founding/Artistic Director
- Work with VBB's marketing consultant to publicize and promote VBB events/activities via social media and media relations

- Knowledge and experience of working with MS Word and Excel; knowledge of Adobe Suites is a plus
- Knowledge and experience in utilizing social media/content marketing for promotion
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team but also function well under minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks
- Must be willing to work some weeknights and weekends
- Candidate must have access to transportation
- A demonstrated commitment to social justice and international issues is preferred
- Knowledge and experience of non-profits is preferred
- Experience with media relations is preferred

Contract: $15/hr

Publication Manager

Position: Contract, 10 hours/month

Voices Breaking Boundaries is looking for a dynamic candidate to join VBB as we work with our board and artistic community to tackle social justice through art. The Publication Manager works in collaboration with VBB's artistic team — Artistic Director, Publications Editors, Graphic Designers, and Production Manager — to support and implement the 2015-16 art catalogue, which allows local and inter/national audiences to re-experience our 2015-16 productions and further engage with the issues we explore. The Publication Manager will work off-site but must be available to attend monthly team meetings.

Overall responsibilities: The Publication Manager reports directly to the Artistic Director and serves as the liaison for the multiple team-members involved in the publication process. This person is responsible for maintaining contact with approximately 10 contributors and 2 editors and for performing the administrative tasks and community outreach necessary to produce one art catalogue.

Primary responsibilities include

- Acts as point person between Artistic Director, Editors, Contributors by maintaining communication files between contributors and VBB team, converting manuscripts to correct formatting for editors, and preparing and maintaining review files
- Works with Artistic Director and Editorial/Design team to set deadlines and ensure they are being met
- Corresponds with authors and editors to request permission and obtain relevant information for final publication
- Researches and contacts potential distributors to sell/consign publications; facilitates distribution and consignment process with VBB
- Supports editorial staff in all activities leading to publication, including purchasing barcodes for the catalogue's distribution with Bowker and maintaining correspondence with the Library of Congress
- Maintains mailing addresses for contributors, tracks correspondence, and assists with payment
- Tracks distributors and timelines

- Knowledge of and experience in publication operations
- Good interpersonal/human relations skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Editing and proofreading skills
- Research skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to attend to details
- Owns a laptop, preferably a Mac

Contract: $20/hr
